Community Guidelines

Creating a safe, trusted, and collaborative environment for all DCI.WIKI users

Effective Date: 01.09.2025

DCI exists to protect digital content authenticity, promote cultural heritage, support research and journalism, and empower creators and their audiences. These Community Guidelines set expectations for all participants, individual creators, institutions, governments, and members or fans, so DCI remains a safe, trusted, and collaborative environment.

By using DCI.WIKI, you agree to follow these guidelines and help us maintain a positive community for everyone.

1. Respectful Conduct

All users must maintain respect and professionalism when interacting within the DCI community:

  • Treat all users—creators, institutions, fans, and staff—with dignity and respect
  • Maintain professional discourse even during disagreements, avoiding personal attacks
  • Hate speech, harassment, bullying, threats, or targeted abuse will not be tolerated
  • Report inappropriate behavior using the platform reporting tools

2. Authenticity & Integrity

DCI is built on trust and accuracy. All users must uphold the highest standards of authenticity:

  • Only register or tag content you own or are authorized to represent
  • Provide accurate and truthful information in all metadata and descriptions
  • Do not falsify authorship, research data, or historical information
  • Any fraudulent activity, including fake identifiers or impersonation, will result in account suspension or permanent removal

3. Membership & Fan Management

Verified creators and institutions can establish membership or fan communities within DCI. When managing these communities:

Creating Membership Groups: Only verified creators or institutions can establish membership or fan communities within DCI.

Managing Members: Group owners can approve, remove, or moderate members. Management tools must be used fairly and transparently—no discriminatory removals or retaliation.

Membership Benefits: Clearly disclose any benefits or privileges you promise (e.g., early access to works, special content).

Respect for Privacy: Do not share member or fan information outside DCI without explicit consent.

Member Behavior: Members are expected to follow all DCI Guidelines when interacting within groups or fan communities.

4. Prohibited Content

The following types of content are strictly prohibited on DCI:

  • Illegal content, including copyrighted material without proper authorization
  • Explicitly violent or pornographic material (except in approved academic, journalistic, or cultural contexts with appropriate tagging or warnings)
  • Misinformation or manipulated content presented as fact, particularly in academic or news contexts
  • Malware, phishing links, or other harmful code
  • Content that promotes hate speech, discrimination, or violence

5. Intellectual Property Respect

DCI users must respect intellectual property rights and follow proper attribution practices:

  • Always credit creators and sources appropriately
  • Use DCI identifiers responsibly—do not remove or alter identifiers embedded in works
  • Report suspected IP violations using our takedown request procedure
  • Ensure you have proper rights or permissions before registering content

6. Cultural Sensitivity

When working with cultural heritage materials and sensitive content:

  • When registering heritage materials, sacred artifacts, or culturally sensitive content, consult appropriate representatives or follow institutional guidelines
  • Avoid misappropriating or misrepresenting cultural works
  • Respect the cultural context and significance of materials you work with
  • Follow ethical guidelines for handling sensitive historical or cultural content

7. Transparency in Promotions & Endorsements

If you promote content or organizations within your membership or fan group, you must disclose any financial or personal relationships where applicable. This ensures transparency and maintains trust within the community.

8. Data Protection & Privacy

All users must respect privacy and follow data protection requirements:

  • Do not share private information without explicit consent
  • Comply with applicable privacy laws and DCI's Privacy Policy
  • Respect user privacy when managing communities or groups
  • Report any suspected data breaches or privacy violations immediately

9. Moderation & Enforcement

DCI maintains these guidelines through active moderation and enforcement:

  • DCI reserves the right to review reported content and investigate violations
  • Violations may lead to warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent account removal
  • Egregious violations may be referred to appropriate authorities
  • Repeated violations will result in escalating enforcement actions

10. Appeals Process

If you believe enforcement action was taken in error, you have the right to appeal:

  • Submit appeals within 14 days of the enforcement action
  • Provide detailed information supporting your appeal
  • An independent moderation panel will review all appeals fairly
  • Appeal decisions are final and binding

11. Reporting Violations

Help us maintain community standards by reporting violations:

  • Use the in-platform "Report" button when available
  • Email detailed reports to [email protected]
  • Provide as much detail as possible, including screenshots or links
  • False or malicious reports may result in action against the reporting user

12. Commitment to Improvement

These guidelines may be updated periodically to address new challenges and improve our community standards. Updates will be announced via email or platform notifications, and continued use of DCI constitutes acceptance of the revised guidelines.
